Terp Tip #1 Find the shade to keep your cool

Transcript/Interpretation:

My first tip for everyday life as an interpreter. (But really, this could benefit anyone.) First I want to let you know that today is hot – close to 85 or 90 degrees out! I was out walking (and sweating) during my break. I took some time to myself and wanted to remind you to do the same. It’s important to look for a shady oasis where you can find some relief. If you are hearing and watching this, you may hear the bird chirping in the background. It’s a meditative and calming moment (which allows you to refresh and keep going with your day).

It’s a great way to enjoy the flowers and to act really nosey with some people watching with passers-by. I love to make up stories about the people I see walking past me. I love trying to figure out what they are thinking about too! It’s a perfect chance to take advantage of a break by finding a dark, cool place in the summer or a warm cozy one in the winter. The most important concept behind this, though, is about taking care of yourself instead of always worrying about navigating what everyone else needs. This allows us to take care of ourselves too.

Now, take care of yourself, and I’ll see you next time!
